It has been noted recently that the Olympics committees have been taking preventative action (such as sending warning letters) to protect their trade mark rights (around the use of official Olympic logos and phrases) worth millions of pounds from being infringed by anyone who has not paid (large amounts of money usually by big corporate sponsors) for the privilege.  The authorised corporate sponsors get to use the Olympic logos and phrases to promote their own products.  The preventative action may seem over the top but they are legally within their rights and need to be seen by sponsors as taking action to prevent any potential brand dilution from non authorised parties trying to cash on the hype surrounding the 2016 Olympics 5-21 August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
