In 2016 Italian shoemaker Aquazzura Italia SRL took steps to sue Ivanka Trump’s company, the IT Collection LLC (operating since 2010), over its “Hettie” shoe design alleging that it was too similar to its own bestselling “Wild Thing” shoe design (with similarities in colour, shape and tassel accessory on both shoes).   Aquazzura Italia’s lawsuit seeks damages of an as yet unspecified amount.

A US judge has decided that the US president’s daughter must testify in this trade mark infringement dispute in a deposition of two hours or less.  It seems that Ivanka Trump must face questions over shoe design, sign off and how supervision of licensees is handled within her company to avoid infringement.
