Samsung has filed a patent for wirelessly charging devices which allows for multiple items (smartphones, cameras, smartwatches etc) to be charged simultaneously. The patent application was filed in January 2016 so there is some speculation that this technology could make it into consumer products very soon with a Samsung product launch scheduled for August 2016. There is some evidence that wireless charging takes longer (up to double the time in some cases) than the traditional plugged in method but technology is improving all the time which is decreasing the charging time of newer devices. The benefits of wireless charging (hassle free, no cables, works with multiple items) are certainly notable.
